Heading off on vacation soon? Here are some tips to help you disconnect during your time off and make a smooth return to work!
.
Leave with peace of mind by organizing your departure
.
Plan ahead to enjoy your vacation with complete peace of mind.
- Communicate your vacation dates and add them to a shared calendar.
- Review your ongoing tasks
- Organize your emails and workspace
- Create a back-to-work to-do list.
- And don’t forget the out-of-office message. This is the last task to complete before you leave.
You can now officially declare yourself on vacation!
.
Leave work at the office
.
You’re on vacation now. Time to truly disconnect!
This is where you can let your imagination run wild to make the most of your time off: relaxation, sports, adventure, meditation, exploration—you name it, you have the choice!
What we do recommend is to distance yourself from the office, your emails, and work-related calls. Clear your mental load by leaving behind anything that might pull your mind back to the office.
Of course, everyone manages this differently and as they see fit. There are those who prefer to completely disconnect from work (67% according to a survey sent to our candidate network) and those who will still check in on urgent matters (33%).
68% of workers use their smartphone for work while traveling, and 62% of them report that using their smartphone for work while on vacation prevents them from recharging or relaxing.* We therefore recommend a digital detox during your time off. Put your phone away whenever possible and enjoy the present moment.
.
Prepare for your return with confidence
.
Returning to work can be a source of anxiety for some. Goodbye to those dream vacations, hello to the daily grind. “It’s completely normal,” explains Patrick Amar, psychologist and executive coach. “The return to work is a transitional period. You move from a state of great freedom to an environment of significant constraints. An adjustment period is therefore necessary to change your habits.”
To ease the stress of returning to work, you can prepare yourself.
– Gradually return to your work rhythm. Wake up a bit earlier than you did during vacation. This way, your first morning back won’t be as difficult.
– To minimize stress, recharge your batteries. Meditation is perfect for relaxation and mental clarity. If meditation or breathing exercises aren’t your thing, find another way to occupy your mind. Sports, walking, or any other activity designed to help you relax will do. Energize yourself with healthy food, stay positive, and approach your return with enthusiasm!
– Gently reconnect with your professional life. Check your networks and ease back into your industry by catching up on the news from recent weeks.
Now, all that’s left is to wish you a wonderful vacation!
